The “Ari” and “Best of Central Atolls” routes both tour the various best dive sites of the Male and Ari atolls.
Around male and ari atolls, the underwater topography is both varied and dramatic with many caves, swim-throughs, drop offs and towering pinnacles coated in colourful hard coral and soft sponges.
Located around the most centre point of the Maldives, it’s a great place to spot reef sharks, turtles and many large pelagic fish such as grouper, trevally and giant barracuda.
Numerous reef fish are also abound and one has the chance to spot whale sharks year round!
For those who can extend their trip from 8 to 11 days, the “Ari & South” trip is largely the same but also ventures a little further south of Male, to the next atoll along; Vavuu/ (aka) Felidhoo atoll.
This is a great place for deep water drift diving and spotting manta rays from May – July!
For all trips, divers are required to have their advanced open water certification and at least 40 logged dives.
This makes Nautilus Two a great choice for experienced divers who don’t want to get slowed up by any doobs – aka dive noobs!
Divers will enjoy stunning coral gardens, exhilarating night dives, action packed drift dives, deep dives and more throughout their itinerary. Nitrox is available on request.
Guests can also participate in other activities such as kayaking, snorkelling, fishing and stand up paddleboarding. Plus, there is a beach bbq!
Onboard, there is a spacious sundeck, with many comfortable sun loungers and stunning panoramic views of the Maldives.
Another popular outside common area is at the bow of the boat, where the cool breeze and shade is nicely complimented by the hot tub.
The indoor saloon features comfortable furniture, ac and a well stocked bar that serves beer on tap and a wide selection of white and red wines.
This is also the location of the dining hall, where local and international cuisine being showcased atop a beautiful five meter long ex-fishing dhoni.
Each of the 12 cabins has a large double bed, single bed, desk, mirror, wardrobe, AC and an ensuite bathroom with massage shower.
Despite being the all time cheapest Maldives liveaboard, Nautlius Two offers fantastic facilities and fun extra activities whilst exploring the very best dive sites of the central region.
It must be said that the more off the beaten track dive destinations of the Maldives lie further north and south, which this liveaboard does not explore.
Unlike with many of the mid-price Maldives liveaboards, you also don’t get to do things like yoga lessons or massage treatment nor do any of the cabins have private balconies or tv.
However, for experienced divers wanting to explore the most famous dive sites of the Maldives whilst also enjoying a beautifully decked out liveaboard that offers fantastic value for money, this is a stellar choice.
“The dives were amazing, thanks to Hampek and Ziad (dive guides), it was a pleasure to dive with you. The whale shark we saw at the end of the dive is an exceptional memory…
We also saw manta rays, eagle rays, gray or white tip sharks, napoleons, dolphins, but also nudibranchs, pipefishes, beautiful corals… 38 dives in total, including 2 at night.
The Dhoni staff was very kind to help us outfit us. The room was spacious and clean, the bed comfortable. The food was delicious: eggs cooked every morning according to our preferences, typical and varied food. The service was impeccable. Thanks to Mister B. for his cocktails. I highly recommend this diving cruise !!!”
