Explore My Liveaboard Guides

I’ve explored some of the world’s greatest diving destinations by liveaboard, from the shark-filled atolls of the Maldives to remote reefs across Thailand and the Red Sea. Explore my liveaboard guides below to find the best boats, routes and diving experiences in each destination.

Maldives

The Maldives is one of the greatest liveaboard diving destinations on the planet. I’ve explored its atolls by liveaboard among huge numbers of sharks, manta rays, whale sharks and an almost ridiculous abundance of marine life.

Red Sea

The Red Sea is made for liveaboard diving, combining spectacular coral reefs and legendary wrecks with remote offshore sites where sharks and other pelagic life steal the show. I’ve explored it by liveaboard and had some truly unforgettable encounters with Oceanic Whitetip Sharks.

Thailand

Thailand is one of the cheapest and most beginner-friendly places I’ve been liveaboard diving. The Similan and Surin Islands combine colourful reefs, huge schools of fish and exciting encounters with manta rays and Whale Sharks.

Komodo

Komodo is liveaboard diving at its most adventurous, with powerful currents, manta rays, sharks and spectacular reefs spread across a wild chain of volcanic islands. It’s one of Indonesia’s most exciting destinations for experienced divers.

Alex

Ahoy! I’m Alex — a PADI Scuba Diving Instructor and the creator of Diving Squad. I started this blog back in early 2019, during a five-year odyssey spent drifting through Southeast Asia, Central America and beyond. In 2023, I landed in Panglao, Philippines — and liked it so much I never really left. I’ve been based here ever since, diving, teaching and continuing to build Diving Squad. When I’m not underwater, I’m usually editing dive footage, plotting the next questionable adventure or cruising around on my bike — but never for long before the reefs pull me back.
