Akomo Isseki Review

The cheapest budget raja ampat liveaboard, Akomo provides all encompassing dive trips aboard a beautiful, wooden interior phinisi vessel.

In addition to exploring the best of north and south Raja Ampat, dive safaris with this boat also feature exciting additional events and activities.

Great for: Cheapest price, small groups, singles, off the beaten (dive!) track routes.

Trip lengths: 9 – 11 days

Max guest capacity: 8

Tours Raja Ampat: November – April (Tours other parts of Indonesia for rest of year).

Akomo Isseki runs north to south trips (or vica versa) through the very best dive sites of Raja Ampat.

With three dives a day, guests can enjoy epic wall dives, exhilarating drift dives and captivating cave dives.

Throughout the tour, you’ll witness spectacular biodiversity; from manta rays, wobbegong sharks and turtles to hard & soft corals, pgymy seahorses and abundant reef fish.

In between dives, guests can search for birds of paradise, embark on viewpoint treks, go kayaking, visit a village and even enjoy a bbq beach party.

A stunning, traditionally hand-crafted phinisi boat, Akomo has a large sundeck where guests can lounge around on the beanbags and hammock.

There’s also a wooden interior dining area with windows that give spectacular views to be enjoyed as you dig into the delicious local and western food. In addition to eating here, guests can also enjoy al fresco dining when the weather permits.

Four naturally vented cabins with twin beds, equipped fans, porthole views and shared bathrooms, cater to just 8 guests for a personal and relaxed trip.

Akomo is crewed by the expert Bugis sailors of southern Sulawesi – comprised of veteran diving instructors, a formidable chef and friendly staff; they are on hand to help, with a nearly 1:1 crew to guest ratio.

Hi, I’m Alex.

I’m the creator of Diving Squad, a scuba diving travel blog shaped by a five-year odyssey spent diving and drifting through Southeast Asia, Latin America, and parts of Europe.

In 2023, I landed in Panglao, Bohol — and loved it so much I ended up staying. I’ve been based here ever since, working as a PADI Scuba Diving Instructor, guiding dives and teaching courses, while continuing to build Diving Squad.

When I’m not in the water, I’m usually editing underwater photos and footage, planning the next trip, or cruising around Bohol — but never for long before the reefs pull me back.
