Ambai Review

Diving Squad Rating:

9.8/10

10 / 10

Ambai is the best all-rounder raja ampat liveaboard, in my opinion. Part of this is due to the awesome variety of dive itineraries that are available.

The most frequent trip; the “Raja Ampat Ultimate” is great for discovering the raja ampat region in it’s entirety. At certain times of year it’s also possible to go on diving trips that start in raja ampat and finish in some other part of nearby Indonesia!

The other reason ambai rocks is that you get more extra activities and experiences than with any other mid-price raja ampat liveaboard. There’s watersports, viewpoint treks, village visits and more!

Great For: Awesome Dive Trips, Unique Routes, Extra Activities,  Quality Cabins

Duration of Trips: 9 – 14 days.

Most Guests: 16

Months of Operation: All Year

Details:

With Ambai, you can immerse yourself in all manner of scuba diving adventures that are absolutely filled with jaw dropping wall dives, exhilarating night dives and action packed drift dives.

  • The “Misool & Dampier” trip explores central and south Raja Ampat.

  • The “North & Dampier” trip explores central and north Raja Ampat.

  • The “Raja Ampat Ultimate” trip explores central, north and south Raja Ampat.

  • The “Raja Ampat Ambon” trip visits central and south Raja Ampat then ventures further south to dive off Ambon, one of Indonesias’ spice islands.

  • The “Raja Ampat Triton Bay” trip explores central and south Raja Ampat, then journeys along the south coast of mainland Papua and finishes at Triton bay.

With this awesome range of routes, which last for different lengths of time, you can select you dream diving safari! You’ll need your advanced open water cert and 50 logged dives for most trips though.

My favourite is the “Raja Ampat Ultimate” route, as it explores the most of Raja Ampat and also includes viewpoint treks, birds of paradise watching and a native village visit as well as various other land excursions.

Throughout all trips, there’s other cool things to do such as water skiing, kayaking, massage treatment and a beach bbq!

The crew of Ambai are extremely helpful and friendly – they really go out of their way to help you see cool things like manta rays, walking sharks and even dugong!

Specially designed for scuba divers by scuba divers, this vessel sports a large diving deck and 3 transportation dinghies to help get the perfect entry point on dive sites.

There is also a dedicated camera room with charging points, for all you underwater photographers.

The sun deck and living room areas boast spectacular panoramic views where guests can soak up some rays with a cold drink in hand.

Or you can unwind inside from the air conditioned saloon which has a fully decked out video & entertainment system and is nicely complimented by the bar.

The 8 private ensuite cabins are gorgeously laid out; with exceptionally comfortable bedding and hot water showers plus AC. Some cabins have windows with ocean views. Plus, there’s free internet and daily housekeeping.

All things considered, Ambai is a superb liveaboard from which to discover raja ampat diving in style!

The crew was the best group of people imaginable. I will dive with this crew on ambai again. Just isn’t possible to have more fun on a dive trip. Thanks to all of the crew for really making this a wonderful experience".

“The MV Ambai has just about everything the most enthusiastic diver could need and beyond. Space, great material, fresh water rinsing tanks, nitrox, camera room and much more.

We dove 3 to 4 times in a day but somehow it was always on a relaxed schedule and everything was running smooth. Never more than 4 divers per guides, this is definitely a big point for this boat! The local dive guides are very nice and professional.

You can tell they are knowledgable, have experience and are dedicated to their work. We experienced good weather and the visibility under water was always fair or very good. We have seen plenty of stunning marine life. As for the boat, everything was great, lots of privacy.

The spacious cabins have each their own bathroom with hot shower and AC control. They offer full board, including soft drinks and the food was tasty and various the whole time.

It’s a beautiful yacht and the people on board were all great. It’s been an amazing week! Fully recommend!”.
