Merdeka 3

Diving Squad Rating:

9.5/10

9.5 / 10

Merdeka 3 is the ultimate Thailand liveaboard for anyone who wants a 50/50 combo of diving and other activities.

Her itineraries feature less dives than other liveaboards – but more sightseeing and chilling! She explores Thailand’s beautiful Krabi province.

Great for: Extra Activities, Kayaks, Sightseeing, Massage, Beginners, Non-Divers

Length of Trips: 4 Nights.

Max Guests: 15

Operates: All Year

Merdeka 3 usually has 2 dives a day, both of which are in the morning when sites are quieter. Afterwards, there’s a lot of land excursions and chilling to be had!
She explores Thailand’s southern Krabi Province; consisting of dramatic limestone cliffs scattered with white beaches, coves and bays, it is a visually stunning location and perfect for a sightseeing tour.

After the mornings dives, guests can enjoy beach visits, snorkeling, fishing and kayaking – subject to the crowds and what guests want, it’s also sometimes possible to do extra dives in the evening or at night!

Guests only need their open water certification and no extra logged dives and for an additional charge, it’s possible to complete scuba diving courses.

This is definitely one of the nicest, most relaxing liveaboards to be on thanks to her large, partially shaded sundeck with comfortable furniture and surrounding views plus the spacious outdoor lounge.

For a small extra fee you can have a massage, whilst taking in the epic views from the sundeck or in the privacy of your room.

There are 6 ensuite cabins with double, twin, triple and quad options – all of them feature an ensuite shower room, ac and fans with a beautiful wooden interior that fits in with the rest of Merdeka 3’s traditional design.

The staff are excellent – they’re incredibly warm and welcoming whilst maintaining professional standards and being incredibly knowledgeable and helpful.

Merdeka 3 admit themselves they don’t operate an entirely dive orientated trip so if you want more dives you’d be best of checking out other liveaboards, notably Thai Aggressor which has up to 5 dives a day!

However, if you’re happy to take things a little slower and enjoy the benefits of having more time to discover Thailand from above the water as well as below it, this is the liveaboard for you.

"This trip was the “dive and chill” trip, which is a nice mix of diving and going to beaches. I did feel a bit shorted on the dives since we only did 6, but it was the rainy season so that happens. The crew was very kind and I had a great time! John (dive instructor) was awesome! Would definitely recommend"!
