Of all the cheap Komodo liveaboards, Kira Kira is the most beginner friendly option – that’s because on her trips, guests are only required to have their open water cert and 10 logged dives.
Other cheap komodo liveaboards require you to have your advanced open water cert and 30+ dives.
Of course, if you’re really serious about a beginner friendly komodo liveaboard trip, then you could consider the mid price options of Moana and Nataraja, where you can hire a private dive guide and go through your scuba courses, for an extra fee.
There’s only one type of route available: the 8 day “Komodo National Park” option, which explores the north and central regions of Komodo. A really cool part of this itinerary is that each day has a unique theme, based on the dive sites visited – such as “ultimate underwater formations” and “Manta Tales”.Β Β
In terms of extra activities, Kira Kira has more than any other cheap komodo liveaboard!Β
In between dives, guests can go kayaking, wakeboarding, make land excursions to deserted beaches and go on viewpoint treks, enjoy a traditional village visit and also visit the komodo national park ranger station to see the komodo dragons, whilst accompanied by a ranger.Β
Busy Girl is the only other option to offer wakeboarding, but she does not have kayaking or paddle boarding. No other liveaboard includes a village visit.Β
Kira Kira caters to a maximum of 8 guests in 4 private cabins to ensure a moreΒ personalised service.Β Three of the cabins are twins, whilst one is a rooftop double cabin that offers superb panoramic views. Only one other cheap komodo liveaboard has a cabin with ocean views and that is La Unua.Β
There are two shared bathrooms and each cabin has wardrobes and plenty of storage space. Guests can catch some rays on the sundeckΒ or kick back on the open air lounge with epic views and an icy beer.
The food is a combination of freshly cooked Indonesian and Western meals β plus theΒ catch of the day!
Kira Kira is one of my favourite cheap komodo liveaboards of all time. She offers the most all inclusive trip, allowing you to discover all that Komodo has to offer, not just underwater but on land as well.Β
